What's behind the latest don't smoke while drinking ad?

http://www.becomeanex.org/whos-behind-ex.php

When Nicoderm, Nicorette, Nicotrol, Commit maker Johnson & Johnson Company directed their partner RWJF to fund and lobby lawmakers in favor of smoking bans; they had no idea of the negative financial impact on the hospitality industry the resulting legislation would have worldwide.

So the above commercial is a late attempt to "educate" smokers about how to live with these new rent seeking laws, while not bankrupting the hospitality industry and eliminating hundreds of thousands of jobs. As mentioned though, it's far too little too late. It does seem to be an admission from the smoking ban lobbyists of their culpability in decimating hospitality businesses and jobs. So if you lost a business or job due to revenue losses after smoking bans were enacted.....lawyer up......payback may be close at hand.

Happy New Year.....but beware of the secondhand smoke from fireworks

Fear not New Year's Eve revelers, neither Michael Bloomberg nor the Nicoderm profiteers at Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) will be calling for a ban on firework's secondhand smoke........there's no profit in it; demanding a ban on cigarette smoke while promoting pharmaceutical nicotine alternative products.......now that's another matter.

Michigan's economy has been in the death throes of anti-business liberals and Democrats for years, will smoking ban be the final nail in the coffin?

Michigan has been controlled by Democrat lawmakers for years. The liberal legacy has been higher taxes, increased spending and anti-business initiatives..... currently Michigan has the dubious distinction of have the highest unemployment rate in the country at 15.1%.

So what do you do if you're a liberal lawmaker in the Wolverine State?...Enact another anti-business initiative of course, a statewide smoking ban.

http://www.freep.com/article/20091210/NEWS06/91210040/1008/Senate-OKs-smoking-ban-for-restaurants-bars

Everywhere enacted, smoking bans have destroyed business and jobs:

3,382 UK pubs closed after nationwide smoking ban

1,000-2,000 US bars & restaurants closed after various smoking bans were enacted

Nearly 300 Mpls / St. Paul bars & restaurants closed after smoking bans were enacted

Casino revenue losses in Colorado & Las Vegas after smokingbans

Washington State gambling revenues fall sharply due to ban

Trump & Atlantic City casinos lose significant revenue after smoking ban

Illionois smoking ban eliminates revenues in casinos

-economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis have released analysis that says Illinois lost over $200 million in state and local revenue by placing the smoking ban on state-licensed casinos.

Hopefully 2010 is the year Michigan voters wake-up.

Secondhand smoke is NOT a workplace health hazard.....air quality testing proves it

Air quality test results by Johns Hopkins University, the American Cancer Society, a Minnesota Environmental Health Department, and various researchers whose testing and report was peer reviewed and published in the esteemed British Medical Journal......proves that secondhand smoke is 2.6 - 25,000 times SAFER than occupational (OSHA) workplace regulations:

http://cleanairquality.blogspot.com/2008/03/british-medical-journal-who-conclude.html

All nullify the argument that secondhand smoke is a workplace "health hazard".

The effects of these unnecessary, pharmaceutical nicotine (Nicoderm) funded, smoking ban laws however; have been profoundly detrimental:

If you can't beat 'em.....join 'em. RJR to buy smoking cessation company

Tobacco giant Reynolds American Inc. agreed to buy Sweden's Niconovum AB for about $44 million, gaining a foothold in the market for smoking-cessation products.

WSJ article online here.

CTA finds it difficult to be critical of this business decision, frankly we're surprised it didn't happen sooner. The entire smoking ban movement only exists because smoking cessation pharmaceutical giant J & J funded the lies and exaggerations about secondhand smoke thru their partner Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in order to expand upon their Nicoderm, Nicorette, Nicotrol, Commit product sales.

It's high time the tobacco companies play the game started by the pharmaceutical company interests.....it's no secret who we're rooting for to win. The reason is obvious.
