American Cancer Society and RWJF partner up to sell smoking cessation products
The CTC (Center for Tobacco Cessation) is a collaborative between the American Cancer Society and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Its primary goal according to this press release is to:......increase demands for and delivery of effective tobacco cessation treatments.........research has demonstrated that drug treatment and counseling are effective and greatly increase the success of quitting........The CTC will assist health and health care partner organizations to promote greater access to effective treatment and availability of insurance coverage for treatment......
Increase demand for smoking cessation.......this is done by funding the lobbying efforts of pro-smoking ban organizations.
.....research has demonstrated that drug treatment (Nicoderm and Nicoderm CQ) and counseling are effective ........well isn't it convenient then that ACS has partnered with the Johnson & Johnson Company (manufacturer of Nicoderm and Nicoderm CQ) affiliate, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. And isn't it convenient that RWJF and J & J discovered a whole new route to market those pharmaceutical nicotine products?
...availability of insurance coverage for treatment.......And this makes the sale of those pharmaceutical nicotine products so much easier.
Look, I've said it before, getting smokers to quit voluntarily is a noble cause when it was conducted through voluntary education and marketing. Smoking bans on the other hand are coercive, collusive, and frankly bordering on racketeering in my opinion. No company or organization should be able to use the force of government (smoking bans) to sell their products. Yet time and time again, it seems clear that this is the modus operandi of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Johnson & Johnson Company.
It's an MO that needs to be stopped. Especially since the American Cancer Society's own testing proved secondhand smoke is up to 25,000 times SAFER than OSHA workplace air quality regulations.
